Hi my name is Dr.Allison Hopkins, I’m
the clinical director at Channel Islands Rehab in Ventura County, California.
Today’s episode is on self-hypnosis and addiction. Through self-hypnosis one
relaxes the body and the mind. When in this state of relaxation it allows the
individual to receive subconscious subliminal positive messages. Think about it when you’re asleep your brain is still functioning while it is recharging,
so to speak. In a state of relaxation messages are provided to you and
suggesting subliminal messages to resist the use of drugs and/or alcohol. The
subliminal messages in our awake state help us to remain clean and sober. As you
can see it is important that treatment you receive needs to be combined with
other treatments and methods; as no one treatment fits all,
a whole client approach. The disease of addiction affects the mind, body and
spirit. Next time we will discuss humanistic therapies and how lasting
recovery is within reach. Thank you for listening.
